ACR is an image-editing application that was split from the Lightroom 3 application and available as a stand-alone product in Adobe’s Creative Suite 3. ACR was redesigned for Photoshop CS5, and now it is the standard editing tool in Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Elements 13. Photoshop itself has been redeveloped into Photoshop CS6, but ACR remains a separate product. This is the case because to work inside Photoshop, you need to configure its layers, and ACR does not include this feature. In other words, Photoshop layers cannot be edited in ACR as this would lead to corruption of the underlying layers. ACR is great for basic image editing in order to correct color issues, replace black-and-white images with color images, correct exposure, and perform the like. Photoshop Elements is designed to be used with ACR as a filter, and this is how it works. Elements can be used to perform the basic functions of ACR, in addition to other features. The ability to use ACR effectively is built into Photoshop CS6 and Elements 13.

If you’re new to Photoshop, then you’ll want to know about the individual tools you use most. When it comes to graphic design, Photoshop is the industry standard. There is no need to go wrong with Elements and Adobe Photoshop as most of the features you will need for most graphic designs are included. However, there is one feature missing which may make Elements seem like a much less compelling alternative for you: the ability to edit or create new Photoshop documents. But, that’s not a problem, because you can use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit existing photos and documents. In this post, we go over the features you need to know to get started. Steps 1. Open Photoshop Elements. You can access it as an application or from the Applications menu on your Mac or PC. 2. Click on File > New. 3. Click on Photoshop Documents. 4. On the left side of the window, click on Images to open them up. 5. From here, you can open an existing image. Click on the arrow in the right corner of the window to select which photo you wish to open. 6. Once you have selected a photo to open, press Enter or click on Open to start work on the image. 7. Click on Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. 8. Press Ctrl+Shift+S to save your image. You can also save to your computer’s hard drive by clicking on the little floppy disc icon in the top right corner of the application window. The rest of this tutorial will show you how to create a new project with Elements and Photoshop. Steps 1. At the top of the screen, click on the gear icon (the one that resembles a cogwheel) to open up the Preferences window. 2. From here you can change the appearance of the Elements window as well as the steps for opening a new document. Click on File and then click on New Document. 3. In the New Document window, click on Photoshop Documents to open it up. 4. From here you can create a new document. This includes creating folders and choosing what type of file you wish to create. 5. Now it’s time to create a new document and select the tool you wish to use. The Pen Tool is another brush-like tool. This allows you to draw many different lines. The lines can be used to create outlines, shadow, or even type, if you use the Type Tool as a brush. You can also paint with the Pen Tool to create shapes and create buttons, text, or even stamps. This chapter will help you get to know the brushes that come with Photoshop, as well as many of the other tools. You’ll explore the ways that you can use these tools to complete particular tasks. You’ll also find several brushes that are highly effective, as well as a few that are less-than-welcome additions to your toolbox. The Photoshop Brush Basic Elements You can use the drawing tools, paint tools, and the eraser to create fine art. And it’s all within Photoshop. The New Photoshop tool palette has eight tools as shown on the left side of the screen. Click on one to open a menu from which you can choose different options for that tool. The illustration on the right shows the Tools panel, which has four additional tools in it. You can use almost any of the tools in these panels to create a painting, sketch, or drawing. After you start using them, you’ll see that they all have different purposes. To use the brush tools, the first thing you’ll need to do is to select a brush from the Brush menu.
