Abdullah Nashih “Ulwan” was born in Egypt in 1534. He was born to a small family, very close to the Moslem community. His parents had a good financial condition and loved to spend money on educational facilities. Therefore, they made great efforts to encourage their child to attend the famous Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo. Ulwan graduated in an exceptionally short time, thanks to the good resources which his parents provided, with “al-Alim”. In 1557 he made a journey to Istanbul in Turkey, which was a destination where he could complete his studies and make use of his Mufa’i. When he reached Istanbul, he met his father, who was in charge of Turkish affairs. He told him about his plan and asked him to allocate him. The following year, they reached Egypt. Here he stayed from 1560 to 1568, was an active member of Islamic society, and died in 1590. A number of projects and centres which were set up at that time, still exist today.

The work of Al-Azhar University is the most important resource in analysing the work of Ulwan, as this is where most of his book was written. This included making reading copies of the books of the books he used. The books that were specifically related to education and learning, especially those related to the discipline of al-Mudawwana, were distributed with the Hadeeths in Cairo.

Interestingly, Ulwan was interested in the development of the Muslim society as a whole, and mainly tried to establish the cause of the emergence of the Islamic civilisation.
