Always liked shooting aliens in a top-down perspective, so I was looking for a game that wasn’t a clone of Quake. I played Mass Destruction (a space shooter with mecha) and quickly got bored with it. When I saw Robokill, I knew that was what I wanted. The game is similar to Quake and Half-Life, and has great visuals. It has 5 huge levels, with up to 50 enemies in one room, and bosses at the end. The main difference is that you can choose your mech (the robot you use to fight the aliens), the number of ammo and weapons you can carry, and what you can equip to them. If you like fast games, you will like this.
The basic gameplay is the same as in the first game, a mere top-down shooter where you blast aliens with a variety of weapons. The game is pretty cheap at $4.99 and looks good. The mission is 10 missions long and has 20 rooms with up to 50 aliens in each, plus a boss at the end. You can only equip 2 extra weapons, but you can carry up to 3. You can upgrade your mech by collecting items, leveling up the mech, building new armours and buying new weapons. There are multiple endings, which you need to complete a certain number of missions. I’d recommend the full version.
The Japanese version of Robokill 2 looks like it’s coming to the iPhone as well. They say in the unlock section that the game will be released on iPhone on December 30, 2008. In the US the game is said to be released sometime in 2009.
Not the full version, but the iPhone version looks pretty good. It’s a shooter game that is top-down like you’d expect. In a sea of top-down shooters the one with robots was popular enough to get a sequel, and the sequel rocks.
