hi, in a nutshell if your persistent about reinstalling software and you know your machine well enough i’d advise you use the recommended recovery utilities. i had an x50000 some time ago which had a problem with the bootloader, it wouldn’t allow the upgrade from f3 to f3+, and the stb wouldn’t boot from it. for my problem i used the manual install of 2.0.2 of eromupgrade bootloader. this is what i did:
opened the /firmware/erom_upgrade_2.0.2.29.12.exe file using notepad. when the program starts up, the “license agreement” comes up and you have to accept it. i agree to the license agreement for the file, press ok. the program will prompt you if you want to recover this setup. press the yes button. now you will see the recovering tool. select the number of the stb to be upgraded. save it by pressing the save button. press the next button. now you will see the upgrade screen with the hard reset button. press the ok button. now you will see the message saying that the device has been successfully upgraded. now you can disconnect the stb from your computer and turn it on.
p.s: if you plan to upgrade multiple stbs, i suggest you to read the manual first. more often than not i have faced problems due to errors in the manual – increased size of the upgrade tool’s hard-reset button, etc. before you upgrade, try to format the partition where the tool wants to install the upgrade. your stb can possibly boot from the.bin or.exe format. if you use a usb, use fat32 format to be sure it will boot.
i have a x300 and i downloaded the.exe file for the firmware upgrade. when i double click on the downloaded.exe file the first screen says you have a version error. how do i get the correct version of the firmware? i downloaded the right file (firmware for my x300)
