the method of correction is only partially disclosed in kb 1551430. in short, you need to restart the bipst process. this procedure also cleans up your configuration (backups, attachments, etc.) and does a fresh restart. some problems have been encountered when removing old configuration, as it is not possible to cleanly remove bipst using landscape configuration. if this is not possible, you need to handle the problem manually. the easiest is to run bipst from the command line and remove the part that references landscape and delete all the configurations. you might also find some best practice advices on stackoverflow. i have posted information about this in: kb 1551430

what is the short term solution then? short term, it is not possible to change security exceptions. but things are not as bad as they may seem. the solution is very simple, make a place for all signed repositories and packages in the same repository root. or make a trusted repository that you always use. if the signed repository comes with an eac.xml file that indicates an incorrect or expired signature, you need to overwrite the file. the other solution is to reinstall the signed repository. i am going to post about how to sign your bipst repositories tomorrow.

the long term solution is oracle enterprise linux support solutions, which includes active directory federation services and microsoft adfs, assuming you are using it as part of the oel5 landscape. it is the same solution, that you are recommending to your customers. as the landscape is only for a short amount of time, you still have an option and a possibility to change the solution once your landscape is done. it is no big problem because this is only a short-term solution.

after installing, users may change their user name or have it changed by an external change control/consultant/process/change management application. the latter is the process in which users change their own user names (if possible) or have those names changed by external change management applications, such as those utilized by major change management processes or applications. the issue is that the users are unable to successfully authenticate using their new user names and passwords.
i was surprised that this issue still exists. it’s something that needs to be fixed, especially because the jdbc-065 issue is a major one and it prevents users from using jdbc in oracle once they have their oracle database up and running.
the password filter solves a problem that the hash cannot be read. the filter uses the password change notification and stores the password accordingly in an additional ldap attribute. the database or directory server on the other hand is then able to read the user password hash.

if you look at the documentation, it would tell you that the bipst service is only designed for standalone installations. however, it works also with bipst-enabled landscape configurations. so, this exception, most likely comes from a compatibility issue. probably the version used by sap is too old. this is not the first time sap support says it has a compatibility problem. many years ago, this was a big problem as sap support says.
