Fantasy Grounds is a full featured, easy to use RPG Tools Solution with a pretty slick user interface. It is a D&D 3rd edition play by post and also supports D&D 2nd, 3rd, and Pathfinder.
It includes a 12,000 ruleset, all the basic monsters from AD&D 1e, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2e, and Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e, the major classes, magic items, races, and so on. The main database tracks monster characteristics and actions. Monsters are random and coded for combat. You do not need to create and record combat sequences for your monsters, instead only code relevant weapons and spells for each monster.
Fantasy Grounds is optimized for use with Fantasy Grounds Unity and Classic. Alternatively, it may run in any standalone-mode (standalone). Fantasy Grounds Unity is a standalone UI and is therefore requires a Unity license. Classic is an old-school standalone UI and is therefore requires a third-party license that doesn’t charge monthly fees. For the latest version of Fantasy Grounds, both Unity and Classic are available as a subscription.
– The world generator supports over 12,000 named NPCs, buildings, and locations.
– Each object is coded to be random when rolled. When a monster walks on a floor or a door opens, the game will assign a random number for the object. The object won’t necessarily be a monster. It could be a plain tile, a door, a door knob, a house, or a statue.
– You do not need to design and roll encounter sequences. This is automatically done for you by the game when it chooses its random number. Fantasy Grounds is coded to choose the most awesome monster. It is quick and easy to use and has a few options that allow customization and expansion.
– You can import a monster, spells, armor, weapons, and items from other character sheets, as well as any other play by post program you have.
– The demo version of Fantasy Grounds is free for two months and can be used to experiment with the tool.
– The Free version has no limitation on uses. You can use the ruleset to its full potential without spending money or time
