Fluidity is an exploration puzzle game set inside a lucid dream – an experience that is difficult for people who dream. It is about exploring a watery world, and solving puzzles. Some puzzles are physical, others are more abstract, but all puzzles must be solved in an onscreen puzzle space using the cursor based gameplay. The world is fully destructible, and each of the puzzles have several solutions. Gameplay focuses around the user’s thoughts, which are stored as a memory and can be accessed later.
The game’s design philosophy is to give the player a hard, but fair, time limit to think through the puzzles. The player has to keep in mind what resources are available, what strategies work best, what assumptions are true and what are wrong.
Fluidity doesn’t aim to replace dreams with virtual reality. It aims to create a new experience with puzzles that you can solve when you are awake. Imagine the illusion of not only being immersed in a dreamworld, but also being able to use the skills and knowledge of your dreamworld to solve puzzles!
