A limited-use graphic designer can be as effective with Photoshop as a designer with Illustrator because Photoshop is as efficient at manipulating vector graphic files as it is at creating raster images. It can open and import many graphic formats, and from there you can export to almost any type of graphic format, including EPS, TIFF, PDF, SVG, and SVGZ. Because you’re manipulating a _graphic_ — even a vector graphic — you have all the flexibility to make any style, size, or shape. Making any shape with layers

When working in Photoshop, you always have access to all the features, modes, and tools. One of the more powerful features is the powerful and flexible ability to alter an image and then re-export it to another format. It’s much easier to see the path than to draw it, so you can tell Photoshop where you want your paths to be.

After you draw paths, you can lock a path, change the tools, add an eraser, and delete or merge paths — all without worrying about path-breaking.

You can always go back and edit your paths; you can’t lose them. You don’t need to save layers in Illustrator because they are supported in Photoshop. You can save a group of layers and then use an action to import them all later.

You can even merge paths and then layer or group them, creating a single, contiguous path, or you can even just move or copy them around.

You can certainly take advantage of Photoshop’s complex functionality. In fact, you have to make compromises when you use these tools. You decide how much time you want to spend in each program.

Photoshop has more tools, modes, and features than Illustrator does, and

Elements does not work with layers (grayscale and color), which has been the staple of Photoshop since the beginning. If you need the full, feature-rich version of Photoshop, then use its free download.

The downside to the relative simplicity of Elements is that it’s more challenging to learn than the original Photoshop. It also lacks a few of Photoshop’s premium features, such as some brush options, selection tools and filters. But since most users of Photoshop will never use Photoshop’s more complex features, Elements is still a good option.

1. Field of the Invention
The present invention generally relates to the fabrication of integrated circuits and to the formation of trench structures. More particularly, the present invention relates to etching a trench or trench, or a via, or both, of a photoresist mask with a highly selective etch to a silicon substrate in the presence of a slurry that forms at the bottom of the trench on the walls or sidewalls thereof.
2. Background of the Invention
As is known in the art, integrated circuits are typically mass produced by fabricating hundreds of identical circuits on a single silicon wafer. The circuits are then cut from the wafer and packaged. The packaging process includes connecting the devices with a simple wire lead frame. The integrated circuits are then tested, repaired or replaced as necessary, and then discarded.
Very complex integrated circuit devices such as microprocessors, application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and memory devices are mass produced by fabricating hundreds or thousands of identical copies of a single wafer. In order to speed production of new integrated circuits, more automated equipment is needed to fabricate the devices. To that end, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) machines have been developed to polish the wafer to a flat and precise topography. This polishing is used to planarize the wafer surface for subsequent operations such as etching.
Generally, CMP processes involve pressing a surface of a wafer against a polishing pad (or rotating wafer head) covered with a slurry comprised of an abrasive and a chemical to cause wear of the wafer surface. Such CMP processes are used to polish a wafer coated with a dielectric material such as, for example, silicon dioxide (SiO.sub.2), tungsten, polysilicon or aluminum. Polishing is used to planarize the wafer prior to patterning the wafer. Once the wafer is planarized, the patterned photoresist is typically stripped off the wafer prior to metallization. Although the slurry provides a non-selective polish, CMP is a time consuming and complex operation, which is one of the major reasons for the high cost of the wafers.
